We think that, in a lot of ways, healthy habits exist because of rituals: those long-perfected daily routines that give a person stability, and hopefully bring an extra bit of sweetness to the day. Rituals can happen at any time, and be as simple or as elaborate as you’d like them to be. One of the most important daily rituals we believe in establishing is: Waking Up.

Get Your Sleep Routine Right

Get Up at the Same Time Every Day
That includes weekends. Waking up and going to sleep at the same time every day helps keep your circadian rhythm (i.e. your body’s internal clock) in balance, which means that you’ll be more alert in the morning and sleepy at night. Yes, that even includes you night owls!
Give Yourself Something to Look Forward To
It’s easier to push the covers off when you’ve got a special treat in store. Whether it’s a tasty cup of coffee or a few minutes to yourself for curling up with a book, make sure that there’s at least one meaningful moment in your morning. If you can schedule a morning sweat session, more power to you! You’ll do yourself a big favor by getting your blood pumping and your heart revved up earlier on in the day. If that’s too challenging at first, at least try going for a brisk walk—even moderate exercise can help rouse your brain.
Don’t worry if you don’t have time to cook a big meal; even just a light breakfast like oatmeal or yogurt with some fruit can be the fuel you need to jumpstart your day. We’re especially partial to adding our hemp seeds (currently only available in store!) on top of Greek yogurt with some honey, or having a glass of water mixed with our Sunpower Energy Elixir to make waking up a little more delicious.
Moderate Your Drinking
That goes for both caffeine AND alcohol! Try to have no more than two cups of coffee or caffeinated tea a day. And if you find yourself at happy hour, try to stick to just one drink at least 2-3 hours before bed.
