Here at Healios, we partner with the people and companies who are the very best at what they do. That means our hemp oil extract is supplied by the leading pioneer in the industry, who just so happens to also be the largest grower, manufacturer, and distributor zero THC, phytocannabinoid-rich (PCR) full spectrum hemp currently available in the United States. Not only that, our hemp products are organically grown, non-GMO, gluten free, and contain zero THC, pesticides, metals, or harsh chemicals.
Cannabis Oil Distilling
So how do they get that way? First, in order to create a CBD distillate, cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids are pulled from a cannabis plant though various extraction processes. Cannabis oil distilling—that is to say, the process of separating substances from a liquid mixture—provides a clean and potent product with limitless potential for usage and application. Think of it as step one for products like Daily Radiance Hemp Drops and Sunflower Relief Salve
Given that THC as well as other cannabinoids and terpenes are volatile and have varying boiling points, they must first be separated from the cannabis plant via hydrocarbon or CO2 solvent-based extraction techniques. In a process known as “fractional” or “short path distillation,” these compounds are boiled down and refined into their cleanest, most undiluted forms—they reach upwards of 99% purity! This process removes the valuable and volatile compounds from the plant itself, while many lipids and other compounds remain. This necessitates further refinement through a process called “winterization,” in which a solvent such as ethanol is used in order to remove these undesirable compounds. Ethanol is a colorless liquid which is produced by the natural fermentation of sugars.
After winterization, isolated cannabinoids must also undergo “decarboxylation,” in which the compounds are heated enough to activate their medicinal potential. Finally, this material is run through a “short path steam distillation” or “rational distillation chamber” multiple times in order to purify the CBD to its isolated state.
Third Party Testing & Quality Control
Finally, a third party tests the extract rigorously and frequently in order to ensure that critical attributes such as taste, color, potency, and purity consistently meet our high standards for quality control. In the case of our Sunflower Salve, we add in essential oils such as organic lavender and eucalyptus so that customers can also enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy with our phytocannabionoid-rich finished products.
